SCDM Leader Selected as Keynote for Clinical Trials Asia Event

Past chair will address global audience at Asia-Pacific conference

Nov. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- MILWAUKEE – Society for Clinical Data Management Past Chair Linda M. Talley will give the closing keynote address at this month’s Data Collection and Management in Clinical Trials Asia 2010 in Beijing.

Talley’s selection emphasizes SCDM’s role as worldwide leader for quality data in clinical trials.

“It is SCDM’s mission to support the clinical data management profession globally and meet the needs for training, best practices and certification,” said Talley, director of biopharmaceuticals at Eli Lilly and Company. “As China and other countries in the Asia-Pacific region become more active in clinical research, we want to be an active partner to provide the services needed for the growing CDM profession in those areas.”

In addition to the keynote, Talley will also participate on a panel discussing North American and European perspectives on data management.

There is a major need for medications and therapies to meet the medical needs of the Asia-Pacific region, which is home to more than 45 percent of the world’s population. According to Talley, clinical trials conducted in Asia can yield information to help prevent mega illnesses, improve preventive care, predict which treatments have higher likelihood of success, reduce mortality rates and create a healthcare environment that is based on data, outcomes and best practices employed in other countries.

Data Collection and Management in Clinical Trials Asia 2010 is produced by the International Quality & Productivity Center. The two-day conference will be held November 24-25 in Beijing.
