Directed and co-written by Dara Bragg and in its third run in NYC, The Romance stars Don Lavin as the strong, faithful and chivalrous assistant service manager, Jacob Walker of Harlem NY, who falls in love with spoiled, independent and rich Upper East Side socialite, Cynthia Miller played by Brittany Angelica Chance. Conspiring to come between the two lovers are Cynthia's parents, Mr. & Mrs. Miller. With a cast of characters that express human frailties of gossip and manipulation, but also explores its faith and morals, The Romance is a play for the whole family. "This is a play that will make you happy, sad and laugh. A story that is about real life situations that people go through and how true love conquers all" says Don Lavin. For this run of the play, director and co-writer Dara Bragg has assembled new actors in supporting roles including Eugene Cooper as Terrance/Mr. Frazier and Lamar K. Cheston as Mr. Frazier/Jacob Walker and Mr. Miller will be played by DaShawn Davis. Reprising the roles of Mrs. Miller is Jeanine Holmes and Shawnette Hamilton Robertson is back as Mrs. Walker. For this production we wanted to shake things up by giving the supporting actors the opportunity to play different roles on different nights”, says director Dara Braggs. “This play will enlighten, excite, and inspire you. Wednesday July 22nd opening nigh performance will be for special invited guests from various women advocacy program including Copacetic Women, The Center Against Domestic Violence and Allen Women's Resource Center.
