March 16, 2011 - PRLog -- Tia P. is an artist with something to say to the world and the 2010 International Songwriting Competition (ISC) agrees.  As a finalist in the Teen Music category and a semi finalist in the Unsigned Only category for her song "Music Is Fundamental", Tia P. is recognized as a young and talented songwriter by the industry and her fans as well.

“Music is Fundamental” was chosen among 15,000+ entries and will be judged by some of today’s heavy hitters in music including artists, Rihanna, Timberland, Kelly Clarkson, Jazmine Sullivan, Darryl McDaniels (Run D.M.C.) and Peter Gabrielle and industry influencers such as, Amanda Ghost, President of Epic Records, Brian Malouf, VP A&R of Walt Disney Records, Douglas C. Cohn, Sr. Vice-President, Music Marketing & Talent of Nickelodeon and Rick Krim, Executive VP Talent and Music Programming of VH1.

Written by Tia P. at age sixteen, “Music is Fundamental” combines hip hop, rock & roll and pop music and takes the listener on a musical journey through Tia’s start as an artist and what music means to her. And although Tia is classified as a hip hop artist, do not put her into a box, she refuses to be shackled and plans to change the game to incorporate all music genres and infuse upbeat and positive messages into her songwriting, the way it used to be.   “I am so excited and humbled to be with other artists who are on their grind trying to be heard, recognized for their hard work and who produce music that doesn't offend anyone.  Whether I win or loose just to be recognized is cool and I can not thank ISC enough for hearing me”, says Tia P.

And hard work is how Tia P. plans to succeed and save the game.  After receiving the news from ISC three weeks after her successful opening performance for Hip Hop pioneer KRS ONE she is currently in the recording studio and rehearsing for two upcoming shows in L.A. while simultaneously preparing for college and establishing her non profit organization “I Care” to mentor teens to make positive decisions that can affect and change their lives and help them cope with health (especially Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis) and low self esteem issues, body image and educational goals.

ISC is giving fans, friends and family a chance to vote as well in the People's Voice (an online voting contest).  The song receiving the most votes will be crowned the People's Voice winner, and the songwriter will win more than $1,500 in prizes.  Voting will take place from now until March 31, 2011. Be on the look out for Tia P as she saves the game and represent her peers through her music and philanthropy.
