How to turn Photos into Paintings using Photoshop

There have been many times that I personally have needed to throw concepts together rather quickly for commercial products. It's not always cost effective to have our illustrators spend the time to create finished works of art for concepts especially if they don't get approved. This photoshop tutorial has allowed me to quickly create art that has a wonderful painted effect straight from photos.

This effect also worked out well for turning a photo of a recent beach trip into a painting which I then had printed on canvas. I doubt anyone would think it was anything other than a painting of a coastal scene.

I'm sure that many of you may have found, simply clicking on any of the Photoshop artistic effects isn't really a great way to make an image look as if it's been painted or sketched. I've seen a lot of Photoshop video tutorials of speed painting that are fantastic, but this video is a really powerful and fast effect for those of us who don't want to put 3-5 hours into it. Like I said, this photoshop tutorial is great for professionals and amateurs alike.
