Websites Point To Bumper Summer Tourist SeasonOVER 6,000 visits were recorded last month alone on the new-look Swansea Bay Summer Festival website, according to figures just released. Statistics show 6,273 visits were recorded in April- and that's over 2,000 more than the same month last year.
By: City and County of Swansea Attractions and events from May to September are all listed including Clyne in Bloom, Escape into the Park and the Gower Walking Festival. And the figures show the sub-pages on events in May and July were the most visited of all and many people have subscribed to a service to receive further information about events. The British Kite Surfing Championships is among the attractions taking place in May while the Gower Bike Ride and the Wales National Airshow are among those being held in July. Cllr Graham Thomas, Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, said: "Indications show it was a busy Easter for our attractions and the combination of this with how well-visited the Swansea Bay Summer Festival website has been means it should be a busy summer. "A lot of work has gone into the resdesign of the website and it's very encouraging to see so many people logging on to see all that's happening in Swansea Bay over the coming months. "Our tourism, marketing and events staff have put a great deal of thought into the organisation of events that will appeal to all ages and interests and this ensures there's something for everyone to enjoy." Figures also show people from across the UK and beyond have also been logging on in their droves to the Admiral Swansea Bay 10K website. Close to 10,000 hits were recorded in April alone- and that's nearly ten times the amount in the same month last year. The event is being held on September 27 and more information is available at www.swanseabayfestival.com or www.swanseabay10k.com Swansea Bay Summer Festival brochures are also now available in hard copy from venues across South Wales.
