Tamago (www.tamago.us), a San Francisco start up has launched a new kind of internet store www.umakeitcool.com for all digital media. Artists set the royalty amount they want to receive for every sale. It works like MySpace or FaceBook, but allows members to make money either selling their media or “Sharing the Wealth” by giving friends part of the profits when they buy media from our service. Artists still make the same royalty amount for each sale.

In Addition, umakeitcool.com gives artists and users the advantage of a community website with all the usual features of friends, internal mail, and tweet. One also gets to spy on members who checked out their artists, and their music. Artists get direct contact with customers without face to face interaction, World Wide.

Each user gets a customizable user webpage and one or more artist web pages for the user or for artists the user represents. Artists can begin selling and uploading their media and promotional material immediately. Media files can be music, eBooks, videos, movies, photographs, digital art, sound samples and effects, clip art, games, software, Excel shortcuts, reports, articles and anything digital. Files can be up to 20MB in length. Everything is free. Tamago even provides the first 100 clicks of search advertising free.

“In this Obama era we believe everyone should share the wealth.” Said Joel Floyd, Tamago’s founder. “We are doing this by giving a commission to designated friends of the media purchaser. This also helps to virally spread the customer base.”

“We are not limited by file formats so anything digital can be sold on this site,” said Gary Feierbach the CEO of Tamago. “This includes music, photos, videos, ringtones, games. eBooks, short stories, software, well you name it. Furthermore, there is no DRM.”

“In less that 5 minutes you can be on the air selling anything from the popular to the very esoteric,” Said Lemon Obrien, an independent Electronica artist. “All the barriers are gone. This can bring out the artist in everyone.”
