Obama Can Borrow Our Slogan, Just Not Keep It.

March 27, 2009 - PRLog -- Hobart, IN based digital printing company Point Imaging found nothing unusual when Barack Obama began using the now iconic slogan "Yes We Can" during the 2008 Democratic primaries, a slogan also used by the printing company.  "We really didn't think much about how it would affect our notoriety", says Marco Perez, Director of Marketing for Point Imaging.  It wasn't until momentum began to build around the slogan that people began noticing and then asking whether Point Imaging had borrowed the slogan from the then Democratic candidate.  "I began fielding about two or three calls per week regarding the slogan and whether we were trying to cash in on its popularity, " says Perez.  "The reality is that we have been using that slogan since 2002."  

As Barack Obama won the Democratic nominee and headed for the Presidential race, 'Yes We Can" became a house-hold term.  "Things really took off after August," says Perez.  "I was getting emails and calls nearly everyday asking about the slogan.  Our proximity to Chicago made things worse."  Point Imaging is located in Northwest Indiana, 40 miles from downtown Chicago, and is considered part of the Chicago media market.  "I'd like to think that President Obama heard about this amazing small company from Indiana, who began in 1990 with barely enough equipment to fill the back seat of our owner's 1986 Pontiac and who grew to become one of the nation's premier printing companies," says Perez.  "We certainly do not mind President Obama "borrowing" our "Yes We Can" attitude if it will help bring a nation united and working together to achieve a common goal....just like we do."
