March 27, 2009 - PRLog -- BartonPartners Architects Planners Inc. is pleased to announce that Seth Shapiro, Director of Planning and Urban Design, will be presenting his seminar, "Is Mixed Use the Real Green?" during the "Going Green: Environmental Stewardship for Preservation and Profit - The 20th Annual Cliveden Institute" held on April 3rd and 4th at Cliveden. The conference highlights ways you can affordably and easily incorporate "green" practices into your everyday life. Panelists will present a variety of perspectives on local "green" issues including: "green" lawn care, protection of local wildlife, historical environmental issues and the true characteristics of eco-living.  Presenters include Keynote Speaker Mike McGrath, Host, WHYY's You Bet Your Garden radio show, and events include a tour of Cliveden and a trip to Weavers Way farms at Awbury Arboretum.  

Mr. Shapiro has over 12 years of experience in residential (both affordable and market rate) and mixed-use development, including expertise in public outreach and land entitlement. A native of King of Prussia, PA, Seth earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Miami School of Architecture. In 1998, he returned to academia, receiving his Master of Architecture in Urban Design (MAUD) from Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Seth has worked with private developers and public agencies throughout the country, including the Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust, Pitcairn Properties, O'Neill Properties Group, and multiple housing and redevelopment authorities. His most recent focus has been transit oriented development and traditional neighborhood design, with a specific concentration on the mixed-use redevelopment of suburban shopping centers.
