March 23, 2009 - PRLog -- The Residences at Vail Mansion has been recognized as the "Best Garden/ Small Scale Condominium Community" by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) at the annual Pillars of the Industry Awards Program. The upscale condominium project on the site of the historic Vail Mansion and grounds in Morristown was designed by BartonPartners Architects Planners, Inc. (incorporating original conceptual designs from The Lessard Group) for The Applied Companies, Woodmont Properties LLC and Roseland Property Company. The Pillars of the Industry Awards recognize excellence in apartment design, development, management, and marketing, and were presented on March 18, 2009 at the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, CA.

Vail Mansion, built by AT & T President Theodore Vail in 1917, was owned by the town for most of the subsequent 90 years, hosting a variety of municipal uses while its classical garden and grounds served (and will continue to serve) as a public park. Now privately owned, the residences restored and augmented a treasured landmark in the middle of town, while augmenting the historic mansion with a 36-condominium five story midrise situated behind and attached to the mansion. The project has served as a catalyst to the successful redevelopment of Morristown's downtown. Despite square foot pricing far higher than any residential property ever sold in Morristown, demand was phenomenal, and 90% of the residences sold before completion at prices ranging from $700,000 to more than $1,500,000.

The Vail Mansion's location in Morristown's revitalized, pedestrian-oriented downtown is near Morristown's Community Theater and restaurants. A few blocks from the train station and close to highways, Vail also provides residents with easy access by rail or car to the commerce, culture and vibrancy of nearby New York City.
