PRLog -- Author April L. Hamilton didn’t think she was doing anything unusual when she built and launched Publetariat (www.publetariat.com)
, a new online news hub and community for indie authors and small imprints, but she was wrong. The site got over 7,000 hits in the first 24 hours following its launch on 2/11/09, and an Alexa traffic ranking in the top 7% by the end of its first week---top 2% when adjusted for the fact that Alexa's rankings are based on a 3-month window and Publetariat had only been open to the public for 1 week. Site traffic has continued trending upward ever since, and Hamilton soon realized she’d hit on a winning strategy for online community development and launch.
“I immediately decided to document my process in a book, because I’d just come from the O’Reilly Tools of Change (#TOC) conference and much of the focus there had been on the importance of building online communities around content. I think many conference attendees came away with a strong desire to build and launch their own successful online communities, but the conference hadn’t offered much in the way of concrete instruction in how to make it happen. When Publetariat went viral I realized my experiences in building and launching the site could serve as a blueprint for building and launching any type of online community.”
That blueprint is contained in "From Concept To Community: How I Built An Online Community And Took It Viral In 25 Days With Little Money And No SEO". The book is now available in trade paperback and Kindle™ formats on Amazon, and in numerous other electronic formats on Smashwords (www.smashwords.com)
