By: Alan Bartlett CICA, which is part of Access to Justice within the Ministry of Justice, administers the Government-funded compensation scheme that helps innocent victims of crimes of violence throughout Great Britain. The new website has been designed and built by Interakting to improve the service provided by CICA and to assist potential applicants apply for compensation. A key aspect of the new site is to make it very straightforward for victims to assess their eligibility for compensation and if they are, to apply for compensation online. The site also provides helpful information about a range of people and organisations that can help site visitors to obtain effective victims support. The Interakting team has worked closely with CICA and the user interface treatment emphasises CICA’s professional, courteous and compassionate approach. Key features of the new CICA site include: * Logical navigation with clear unambiguous user journeys * Emphasis on putting victims first and ensuring victims receive sympathetic treatment * High degree of accessibility (WCAG 1.0 Priority Level 2 (AA standard) and minimal JavaScript) * An easy-to-use low maintenance content management platform (EPiServer CMS) * Easy access to downloadable application forms As well as delivering improved functionality and easy-navigation for site visitors, the Interakting team has developed this new content-managed website on the proven EPiServer CMS platform which was chosen for its ease of implementation, reduced project roll-out times and simplicity of use. From the client’s perspective, this CMS platform allows the CICA team total flexibility when creating new and editing existing site content thereby minimising ongoing maintenance costs over the lifetime of the site.
