One-man show will debut Christopher M.'s series of paintings of Atlanta Chef Kevin Rathbun

Feb. 2, 2009 - PRLog -- SMYRNA, GEORGIA--Vinings Gallery is pleased to welcome contemporary artist Christopher M. to Atlanta for the first time to kick off his one-man show at receptions on Friday evening April 17 and Saturday April 18. While at Vinings Gallery, Christopher will create an original oil painting and will debut a series of paintings of great chefs of the world including Atlanta's own Chef Kevin Rathbun.

Known as "The Painter of Chefs," Christopher M. aims to satisfy the viewer's appetite for fine art, fine food and fine wine with the unique splendor and vivid imagery of his paintings. At age 33, this young artist's appeal has grown throughout the world thanks to his uncanny ability to capture the good things in life. The artist elaborates: "My current series of paintings and prints are images of chefs, restaurants, and their staff, in honor of the people who have given me the experience of fine food and special evenings with the people that I care most about, my family and friends."

Christopher M. traveled to Atlanta in February to work with Chef Kevin Rathbun to create the new body of work, which will debut with this show. “I love to observe the creative energy and action that takes place in the kitchen,” said Christopher M. “Every chef brings a unique element to the entire culinary experience and I enjoyed capturing Kevin’s artistic process on canvas.”

Chef Kevin Rathbun is nationally recognized as the chef /owner of three Atlanta restaurants: Rathbun's, Krog Bar and Kevin Rathbun Steak. On almost every best-of list conceivable from Bon Appetit and Food & Wine to Zagat and USA Today, the Chef and his restaurants have been featured on the TODAY Show, The Early Show, Good Day Atlanta and in 2008, Rathbun was named the Food Network's Iron Chef America.

This show kicks off the month-long exhibition and will showcase the largest body of Christopher M.'s original paintings available for sale anywhere in the world. "One thing that is important to me is that people remember to enjoy themselves and experience life to the fullest," he relates. The artist, who lives and works in his studio near San Diego, California, says that he looks forward to sharing this passion for living and fine food, wine and great art with fans and collectors in and around Atlanta. The show will run through May 1.
