Feb. 2, 2009 - PRLog -- The Rickshaw challenge TECH RAID – 2009 (October 16-22) is a unique mash-up that combines both technological and cultural exploration. It is essentially a hardcore endurance rally, a full explorer-style immersion in Indian culture, and a head-to-head battle of technological prowess all rolled into one unforgettable six-day adventure. Best of all, the event will even include a charity element, so everything is happening for a good cause.

The challenge takes place in the heart of South India, in an area known as the country’s IT Triangle, which lies between the modern metropolises of Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. Participants will be racing customized auto rickshaws along a 6-stage course that will take them over 1,000 kilometers (roughly 590 miles) through some of the most high-tech cities in the Indian subcontinent. These cities alone provide a glimpse of India’s unique blend of modern technology and quintessential Indian culture. But the exploring doesn’t stop there!

Along the way, teams will face a number of challenges. The challenges cannot be described or predicted, and are just part of what makes TECH RAID an endurance rally. Others involve unique tech-oriented competitions that teams will have to complete along the way.

While TECH RAID is the first auto rickshaw endurance rally to focus on technology, it is just the latest in a long chain of similar rallies that have taken place across India in recent years. These events are put together by Chennai Event Management Services (CEMS), and have been becoming increasingly popular over the years. The rallies focus on exploration and teamwork, and have always included a significant charity element, such as bringing much-needed supplies to local schools along the route.
