| Countdown to Swansea's Firework Display - Sparks in the DarkThe countdown is on for the City and County of Swansea’s annual Fireworks display, ‘Sparks in the Dark’, which takes place at St Helen’s Ground on Wednesday 5 November.
By: City and County of Swansea This annual display is a major part of the events calendar in Swansea and has grown from strength to strength, always entertaining those who attend the evening’s entertainment. This year ‘Sparks in the Dark’ will be presenting ‘Only Men Aloud’, who come straight from their magnificent win on the BBC television programme, ‘Last Choir Standing’. They successfully beat fourteen other choirs in the live final shows and will be appearing in their first live performance since their win. Frances Jenkins, Strategic Manager for Tourism Marketing and Events said “Only Men Aloud are a fantastic addition for ‘Sparks in the Dark’. Whilst they are known for their choral singing they are also fresh and eclectic, and will appeal to people of all ages and musical tastes.” The Wave and Swansea Sound will be broadcasting live from the ground and are joined by local teen pop sensation ‘Electrovamp’ The City and County’s Road Safety team will also be on hand, encouraging people to take care in the dark nights now that winter is approaching. A spokesperson from Swansea’s Road Safety team said. “Large scale displays such as this, offer such extravagant fireworks shows along with a wide choice of entertainment, in safe and controlled surroundings, that are perfect for all the family to relax and enjoy the display.” Rebecca Cadmore, Communications Officer for Admiral said “We are so excited to be a part of such a big celebration in Swansea. It is a great family night out and always draws huge crowds, who come back year after year.” “We are really looking forward to ‘Sparks in the Dark’ and hope the people really enjoy themselves throughout the night.” The evening’s festivities kick off at 5.30pm with plenty to do for all ages including food stalls, jugglers and a variety of entertainment. The main fireworks display commences at 7.30pm in an explosion of dramatic colour and music. Tickets are still on sale so why not take advantage of the discounted rates by booking yours today.
