PRLog -- Dr. Karan Kaler is a professor at the University of Calgary, the northwest Calgary school that is home to scholars in 16 faculties offering more than 80 academic programs and 36 research institutes and centers. Dr. Kaler has been with the university, within the department of electrical & computer engineering, for seventeen years and is well known by both students and faculty for his exemplary instruction, research and mentorship. Dr. Kaler was elected as to the College of Fellows of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering and is an esteemed member of the IEEE. He is a foremost authority on electrical and computer engineering and focuses his research on cellular & molecular dielectrophoresis, micromachining and microstructures, bioelectric measurements and instrumentation, cell sorting & separation methods. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree, with honors, in electronic engineering and a Ph.D. in electronic engineering from the University of Wales. He has published many book chapters, journals and articles and has been an invited public speaker and lecturer at many universities and industry conferences. Dr. Kaler is equally active in the community and maintains a dynamic philanthropic profile within academia. He supports several programs that benefit research and promote educational opportunities. In his spare time, Dr. Kaler enjoys playing classical and Indian music, photography, horseback riding and painting.
