Nicole FáLon Garrett Donates Double Dippin’ to University of Iowa and Chicago State University

Publisher-Author Nicole FáLon Garrett Donates Copies of Debut Novel Double Dippin’ to Alma Maters the University of Iowa and Chicago State University School Libraries and to University Presidents

Oct. 1, 2008 - PRLog -- LOS ANGELES—“This is the least that I could do,” publisher-author Nicole FáLon Garrett said as she donated 10 copies of her debut novel Double Dippin’ to the libraries of the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa and Chicago State University in Chicago. Double Dippin’ is a fast-paced, adult suspense drama that presents five of Chicago’s young and sexy elite. Readers will quickly find solace within the pages of this wonderfully crafted work by this Chicago native.
Garrett earned a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Iowa in 1992 and a Master’s in English from Chicago State University in 1999. “My road was paved on Hawkeye streets at the University of Iowa and refined by the Talented Tenth at Chicago State University,” Garrett said.
She believes her novel is destined to become an important contribution to 21st century literature. “For 15 years, I’ve heard the moans of students when I passed out the reading lists—in high school and college,” Garrett said. “With the publishing of Double Dippin’, my alma maters, as well as other colleges and universities have a valuable addition to reading lists that today’s students—both young
and seasoned can appreciate. Many of my readers tell me that Double Dippin’ is a real page-turner. That’s the exact same response we teachers want from students. That’s when real learning takes place.”
University reading lists are created to teach writing style, spur conversation about events and characters as well as help draw parallels to society. Garrett believes Double Dippin’ will achieve that and more. “My team also offered a program by which the University of Iowa and Chicago State University can incorporate novels written by their alumni into the curriculum,” she said.
With great honor, Garrett donated a signed copy to the personal libraries of CSU’s president Frank G. Pogue, PhD and UI’s president Sally Mason, PhD. “I was thrilled to come to the office and see the book on my desk. I’m an avid reader, and to see a book crafted by one of our own graduates both fills me with pride and inspires me to read it as soon as possible,” Dr. Mason said.
“I’m looking forward to serving as a visiting professor at colleges where Double Dippin’ has been added to the curriculum,” Garrett said. “And of course I’m looking forward to going home to Iowa City and Chicago to contribute to student growth.” Double Dippin’ is currently available from Amazon.com.
