Follow on Google News | Art Institute Student Andre C. Emery’s Final Project Seen on the Red Carpet of the 2014 GrammysArt student's stunning dress is displayed to a worldwide audience
By: Andre C. Emery “I figured there was no better place to show off my creation than on the red carpet at the Grammys,” he said. Emery’s stunning dress was worn by friend and model Hannah Szafranski, 20,whose lovely 5’-9” frame was made to showcase Emery’s original design. “Hannah’s a perfect size 6 and she was working that dress,” Emery added. “I can’t believe how wonderful I felt and all the attention I received wearing Andre’s dress. The knit almost was a second skin and I felt simply beautiful,” model Szafranski said. Emery’s friends and classmates were thrilled that he pulled it off. “He did it and that’s awesome,” said Emma Carpus, 21, a fellow fashion design major. “Millions of people from all over the world have seen my friend’s work on TV!” Work on the dress actually started in December. The designer was sold on the jersey knit material because he felt “The fabric fits the body just right and is light enough to allow a woman to feel comfortable in any social situation.” The red color was an easy choice because red’s a natural head-turner. And about that final project: the dress got a passing grade! It certainly received an “A” on the red carpet at the Grammys! Expect to see more fashion eye candy from young designer Andre C. Emery who graduates from the Art Institute in 2015. End
