Aug. 18, 2008 - PRLog -- The Carolina Poker League of North Carolina recently has scheduled a World Poker Tour Amateur Poker League Sanctioned Event in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The event is billed as The Golden East Poker Open, and will be held at it's namesake The Golden East Crossing Mall.
Scheduled for September 20, 2008 beginning at 2:00 pm and ending at  8:00pm.
The Golden East Poker Open will consist of 2 parts:
Part 1: The Exhibition / Poker Clinic

Beginning at 2:00pm the demonstration will consist of a 2 hour sit ‘n go tournament where participants, each will be given $5,000 in chips to use until they either bet them away or increase their chip-stack. Then continue on until the tournament time has expired, giving many players that may have little or no experience in No Limit Texas Hold’em an opportunity to see first hand how the game of poker is played. Also, while the sit ‘n go is in play there will be a number of experienced players who will teach a variety of tricks, techniques and player strategies. Including how to read your opponent, how to make a proper bet, call, a raise, and of course the powerful ALLIN bet. The demonstration will also include instruction on hand ranking and chip structure and chip values. This is very useful and usually necessary to become successful in playing poker on a level that could propel a player from novice to card shark in no time with ample practice and proper application.

Part 2:WPT Amateur Poker League Sanctioned Event

Beginning at 4:00pm the tournament will begin, where only registered members 21 or older are eligible to participate. Tournament registration is limited to the first 120 Members to sign prior to tourney start time. These players will then be assigned a table and their seat. After all players have been seated the chips will be distributed to each player in the amount of $10,000.
Computerized seating and game clock will be used to ensure accurate blind timing, and blind increases, also chip values and colors will be displayed throughout entire tournament. Via state of the art electronic broadcast system our software will be displayed onto several big screen TV sets in obvious areas so all players can see all information that is broadcasted necessary to keep up with time of play and play advancements.
Our tournament will be played according to WPT Amateur Poker League rules and regulations. Initial tournament play will continue until the final 8 players are left. Then these 8 players will move to the final table to commence the tournament conclusion. The final 16 players will be awarded points redeemable for valuable prizes.
