Having achieved relative success in use in cataract surgery, some device makers are now pushing to have surgeons recommend these new lenses to patients even when they do not have cataracts. This procedure, known as Refractive Lens Exchange, removes the natural eye lens and replaces it with an artificial lens all in the hopes of eliminating dependence on glasses.
