Guangzhou Papercutting Breaks World Record

The Guangzhou local artist, Han Yan's papercutting "Hundreds of Family-Names" is now officially recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records.

July 8, 2008 - PRLog -- A new world record was broken in Guangzhou on 6th this month for the longest papercutting in the world, entitled “Hundreds of Family-Names”. The 226.93-meter work is now officially recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records.

Han Yan, creator and owner of this phenomenal piece, donated her work to the National Art Museum of China.

At a length of 226.93 meters and a width of 0.48 meters, Han’s work consists of 288 papercut patterns, with each symmetrical pattern symbolizing one family name in China.
