Harris Corporation to Give Digital Radio Presentations at Radio Broadcast Convention in Puerto Rico

May 22, 2008 - PRLog -- Harris Corporation , an international communications and information technology company, will give a series of presentations at the “Asociacion de Radiodifusores de Puerto Rico” (Radio Broadcasting Association of Puerto Rico) annual convention at the El Conquistador Resort and Spa in San Juan taking place May 22-25.  Rich Redmond, director of strategic marketing for Harris Broadcast Communications, will be a keynote speaker, presenting a series of business and technical presentations on HD Radio™ broadcasting standards and technologies.

“This conference is an excellent opportunity to discuss how broadcasters in the Caribbean and Latin America can benefit from HD Radio™ implementation — from better sound quality and improved broadcast services on the AM dial, to the possibility of new revenue-generating opportunities afforded through datacast streams and multicasting opportunities for FM stations,” said Redmond.  “HD Radio broadcasting is already making inroads in Latin America and this convention presents an opportunity for engineers to discuss HD business case studies and technical experiences in the field.”

Redmond will lead the Harris presentations and discussions, with specific topics assigned for business and technical tracks.  The Business Session will include discussions on new revenue sources and applications through datacasting and digital signage, multichannel radio over a single FM channel (i.e., multicasting), AM program quality improvements, and HD Radio licensing through iBiquity Digital Radio.

The Technical Session will dive deeper into HD Radio technologies on the market and the global adoption landscape, implementation considerations, strategies for FM and AM deployments, and a complete overview of Harris products for each application.
