Local Filmmaker’s Award-Winning “Elixir” to be Shown at the Delray Beach Film Festival

Award-winning filmmaker David Miller releases his sci-fi spoof "Elixir" at the Delray Beach Film Festival May 11 at 5 p.m.

April 22, 2008 - PRLog -- After a successful stint at the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival (FLIFF) last fall, Dave Miller’s “Elixir” has been picked up by the Delray Beach Film Festival. Since its showing at FLIFF, it has been reworked with added scenes and new edits to make this madcap adventure even better.

Elixir is the ultimate Sci-Fi spoof filled with crazy characters. It already won stand-up comedian turned director, Dave Miller, an award as a new director. This may be his first go around with a film script but he has had the idea in his head for years as he worked the comedy cruise ship circuit. His dream became a reality creating a brave new world within the confines of his own backyard. But what started out small snowballed as more and more people heard about the project and wanted to get involved.

Soon, he and his new crewmates were creating robots, rocket ships, dance machines, holograms and other hi-tech special effects on a low budget. He was overwhelmed by the support shown by the community, including Bob Levy from Pembroke Park, Samson Ironhouse Gym, Paul Fisher of Flamingo Building (Art Gallery) in West Palm Beach and more. They even were provided real army gear and military trucks thanks to the Army/ Navy store and others. The movie, which had become a Tri-County venture at this point, culminated at the G-Star School in Lake Worth.

The story is really sci-fi fantasy and the tale unfolds something like this … In a distant galaxy, war has been replaced by an interplanetary dance competition. Falfin, a second rate song and dance man, is mistaken for Boton, the galaxy’s greatest dancer, and is sought by both warring factions. In order to win the competition, “Boton” must have the legendary Elixir, which has crashed on the planet Earth in 1959. But he is not the only one looking for the legendary Elixir. As he searches for it, he runs in to more crazy characters and hilarity ensues.

Miller was able to wrangle quite a dedicated group of people to be a part of his large ensemble cast for this picture. Many came with a bevy of experience from both the comedy circuit and the acting world. All actors are from South Florida, most from Palm Beach County. They include: Dave Clark as Boton/ Falfin) as well as Todd Vittum, Maggie Marigold, Rob Goodman, Rachel Galvin and more.

“Elixir” will be showing at The Crest Theatre at Old School Square, 51 N. Swinton in Delray Beach on May 11 at 5:00 p.m. To purchase tickets, visit www.dbff.us. To find out more information about the movie, visit www.elixirthemovie.com.
