March 16, 2010 - PRLog -- "Basics of the Biz" author Rachel Galvin will be teaching a one-hour workshop at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 25 at Crest Theater, 51 N. Swinton Ave. in Delray Beach. The class will include everything from the right type of headshots and resume to the types of acting classes and how to network.

"This really is a class for the newbie who is just starting this process and isn't sure where to begin," said Galvin, who has been an actress on stage and in film for 14 years.

She began her acting career in Colorado, where she performed in various plays and theatrical performances before moving on to Los Angeles. She stayed in "Tinsel Town" for three years, gaining experience in film and also as a talent manager. She even worked as a tram tour guide for Universal Studios.

She ended up in South Florida in 2000 for personal reasons and decided to stay. Here, her acting work took off with film after film. She has three films she has been in showing this month. "Sixth Day," a short film in which she played a hillbilly wife, showed in Lake Worth last weekend. This weekend, the feature "Lucky Streak and the Crime Fighters" is having a private screening in Ft. Lauderdale. It has its world premiere at the Florida SuperCon in June in Miami. On March 28, "Lost Angel," a feature in which she has a small role, but also worked behind the scenes, is showing at the Crest Theater, also part of the Delray Beach Film Festival. The film plays at 11:45 a.m.

Galvin's book "Basics of the Biz" will also be available for sale (retails for $19.99). She may offer a discount for those who attend. For those who miss the class, it is available for purchase online at Amazon.com.

Galvin asks those attending to bring their headshot and resume and their questions.
