RAD Sets Benchmark for Security in Private LTE/5G Utility Networks

By: RAD

TEL AVIV, Israel - Oct. 29, 2025 - PRLog -- RAD, a member of the Anterix Active Ecosystem (AAE), announced today that its SecFlow IoT gateway now features an advanced security suite that closes persistent gaps in traditional network defenses.

By shifting from legacy perimeter-focused defenses to an identity-first approach, SecFlow establishes trust at the device level – ensuring that the device itself, not its IP address, becomes the anchor of security. The SecFlow gateway's innovative advanced security suite significantly enhances utilities' cybersecurity posture.

SecFlow has been awarded the Anterix Active® badge designation, which confirms its compatibility with Anterix 900 MHz spectrum and its readiness to support utility-grade private LTE and 5G deployments. As the largest holder of licensed spectrum in the 900 MHz band (896-901/935-940 MHz) throughout the contiguous United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico, Anterix works closely with leading utilities and technology innovators to accelerate grid modernization. Through the AAE, Anterix rigorously tests member technologies to help ensure seamless operation on 900 MHz private wireless broadband networks, enabling secure, scalable, and future-ready solutions for critical infrastructure.

SecFlow uniquely anchors security to the hardware, with a TPM 2.0 root of trust and Secure Boot, turning onboarding into a certificate-based, auditable process and making each gateway's identity the heart of access control. This architecture hardens the network edge, protects critical security keys against theft or tampering, and ensures only authorized code is executed.

"Utilities face escalating risk at thousands of remote, unmanned sites, where attacks like device cloning and key leakage are all too possible," said Arik Kotek, IoT Product Line Manager at RAD. "SecFlow's certificate-driven model transforms onboarding into a security event, all while seamlessly fitting private LTE/5G networks, which is a crucial need for utilities' modernization."

Designed specifically for North American private LTE (Anterix and CBRS) and public carrier networks, SecFlow delivers end-to-end, identity-based protection for distributed operational environments. It meets the leading cyber security standards, such as IEC 62443 and EN 18031, as well as complying with IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 for utility-grade environmental and EMC resilience. It also offers centralized, auditable management for complete visibility and control.
