IP2Location Expands Autonomous System Data Coverage in DB26 and API

KUALAL LUMPUR, Malaysia - Sept. 2, 2025 - PRLog -- IP2Location, a leading provider of IP geolocation solutions, is pleased to announce a significant enhancement to its Autonomous System (AS) data offering. Starting in September 2025, both the IP2Location DB26 database and the IP2Location.io API will provide users with a more comprehensive view of Autonomous System information, enabling deeper insights and improved security use cases.

Traditionally, the DB26 database included only the Autonomous System Number (ASN) and the Autonomous System Name. With this latest update, three new data fields have been added to extend the richness of AS-related intelligence:

1. AS CIDR – Defines the complete CIDR range of the Autonomous System, providing broader visibility into IP coverage.
2. AS Domain Name – Identifies the registered domain name of the AS owner for easier attribution and validation.
3. AS Usage Type – Categorizes the Autonomous System by usage (e.g., ISP, hosting provider, corporate network), allowing for refined analytics and decision-making.

In parallel, the IP2Location.io API has also been upgraded. Users subscribed to the Security Plan will now receive expanded Autonomous System insights under the as_info section of the JSON response. This ensures developers and businesses can programmatically access the same enriched dataset without additional complexity.

These enhancements further strengthen IP2Location's commitment to providing accurate, detailed, and actionable IP intelligence. By integrating these new data points, users can achieve improved threat detection, network attribution, and personalized content delivery.

Availability

• The expanded DB26 dataset will be available for download starting September 2025 for all existing and new subscribers.
• The IP2Location.io API update is automatically applied for Security Plan subscribers, ensuring immediate access without extra integration effort.
