When you change the board, tiles, and rules, something might look like a duck from afar but have little in common with one. Remember, chess and checkers are played on the same board!
By: Wildwords Game Company A dozen asterisk wild tiles can represent any series of one or more letters. They have no point value but are key to finding 7-tile plays. Play D*BOBU*G for discombobulating. 20 yellow turn-to-wild squares (only some used) convert regular tiles into wild tiles. Flip an awkward Q to stand for three letters of a longer word. This happens. In Scrabble or Words With Friends, you can never think beyond your often lousy tray. No need to consider previous plays. Use a played wild tile for another purpose in any direction. Defend what you play, when you play it, and only if your opponent risks a challenge. A timely bluff is a part of WildWords. The scoring system is similar to Scrabble with bonus squares. However, the 40 point bonus for 7-tile plays is the major factor in winning games. Games have many fewer turns. The board is never blocked. And comeback possibilities grow near the outer edge. And if you should be holding a terrible set of tiles, at the start of your next turn you can put all tiles (not some) back in the bag, mix, and draw a full fresh set without losing the turn. The game favors those who think across all parts of the board and include the craziest ideas. The only way to get better at WildWords is through the experience gained by playing it. I am hoping to team with a quality game company so WildWords can outlive me in digital and physical forms.
