Accra to Host 11th WaCA Mining 2025 Showcasing Responsible Mining & Critical Mineral Opportunities

 
ACCRA, Ghana - Aug. 1, 2025 - PRLog -- The 11th West & Central Africa (WaCA) Mining Summit & Expo will take place on 25-26 September 2025, bringing together mining executives, government officials, investors, technical experts and technology providers to discuss the future of mining in one of the world's fastest-growing resource regions. The Summit will spotlight the enormous potential of West & Central Africa in critical minerals, value-added processing, and responsible mining practices.

This year's conference will explore key themes such as responsible mining, battery minerals, investment strategies, and artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM), with world-class speakers and thought leaders sharing their insights, including:
  • Dr Assheton Stewart Carter, Exec Chair of TDi Sustainability and Chief Investment Officer of Impact Capital (UK), who will discuss "Future Proofing WACA's Leadership in Responsible Mining".
  • Richard Afenu, CEO of Extractive Resources Consulting Services (Ghana) who will present "Battery Minerals: Ghana – Where Do We Stand?"
  • Ralph Rossouw, Managing Director & Country Manager of Vedanta Resources (South Africa/Ghana) who will discuss "An Innovative System to Attract USD 4 Billion in Investments in Challenging Markets".
  • Dr Oseadeeyo Nana Kumi Kodie, Exec Chair of The Private Office of Dr Kodie, and Founder of the Dadaba Group (Ghana), will present "Ethical Mining & Carbon Integration: Africa's Strategic Advantage in the Global Energy Transition".
  • Abdoul Aziz Idrissa, ASM Promotion & Supervision, Ministry of Mines (Niger) will present "Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining and Security in AES Countries".
Ghana is rapidly positioning itself as a leader in the global battery mineral value chain. The government recently signed agreements for lithium extraction and local refining, marking a historic milestone for value addition in Africa. The Green Minerals Policy, launched by the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, emphasizes responsible mining, local content development, and downstream processing, ensuring that communities and the economy fully benefit from mineral wealth.
