KALUTARA, Sri Lanka - June 9, 2025 - PRLog -- For a soft landing, begin the trip at Glenross Living, a Sri Lankan-owned wellness sanctuary tucked away on a hillside in Kalutara, around an hour and a half drive from Colombo Bandaranaike Airport. The hotel has a rustic Scottish cottage with three bucolic rooms and seven modern pool villas designed by the country's only Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) award-winning architect, Palinda Kannangara. Each wood-clad villa overlooks a green valley densely covered in tea bushes, cinnamon and rubber trees.

Day 1

Morning

Start the day with a cup of fragrant Ceylon tea and a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast – spicy dal with rice and crispy hoppers with pol sambol (a condiment made of grated coconut and spices). Then have a mosey around the property's 90-acre tea, rubber and cinnamon estate. Glenross provides guided walks with a naturalist who'll talk about the island's diverse wildlife. End with a refreshing dip in the hotel's communal pool as purple-faced langur monkeys play in the canopy above.

Afternoon

After afternoon tea on the estate's flower-skirted lawn, indulge in the Glenross Living Signature massage – a remedy for travel-induced tightness. Otherwise, opt for a training session with a local Angampora warrior. Learn all about the centuries-old Sri Lankan martial art – a mix of spiritual practices, self-defence and combat techniques, once banned by British colonial rulers.

Evening

At Glenross, there's a sense of blissful seclusion. Lean into it by dining on the hotel restaurant's quaint terrace. Each evening, the chef produces a three-course, Mediterranean-influenced menu – think herb-crusted lamb chops and delicate fish piccata. Those craving Sri Lankan flavours can request local dishes with some notice. Afterwards, book a gentle, sleep-inducing meditation session to subdue residual jet leg.
