Based on the book of the same name by Karl Manke and adapted to the screen by DJ Perry (Wild Faith, Silent Night in Algona) this roaring 20's film is spectacular.
LANSING, Mich. - Feb. 14, 2025 - PRLog -- Collective Development Inc. (CDI) has a reputation for top quality independent content and 'Harsens Island Revenge' raises the bar once again. The story is essentially WW1 veterans in a historic conflict with the murderous Purple Gang headquartered in Detroit, MI. Directed by Carl Weyant who had previously directed hard rock music videos with CDI for bands such as Shallow Rising led by ex-'Lamb of God,' 'Megadeth' drummer Chris Adler, brings his powerful style to his first directorial debut.
The film captures a piece of Michigan history dealing with bootlegging which was running across the country during prohibition. Fast and dangerous money could be earned for those willing to risk it. This movie is beautiful to look at being shot on Harsens Island and Alpena which had a slew of period buildings. Add to this cars, boats and planes all over 100 years old and CDI magically transports audiences back in time.
The film was signed to a home video deal with Bridgestone Multimedia Group. The film while full of historic violence also has a good dose of romance and strong lessons about the consequences of greed. The leads are played by David Reardon (Man's Best Friend) and Cassie Dean (Silent Night in Algona) with Don Most (Happy Days) commanding the screen as the leader of the Purple Gang.
The film is slated to start a premiere/theatrical run in March starting with Alpena, MI and working down-state before expanding across the country. A sneak peek given to The Red Letter Awards garnished an early 'Best Picture' nomination in their 2025 awards.
