Author's Canal Walk Leads to Backlash

EVESHAM, U.K. - Dec. 17, 2024 - PRLog -- Author Ian Coates is pleased to announce that his new crime thriller, Backlash, which was inspired by a walk along the Grand Union Canal, will be published on December 17th by Wallace Publishing. "The idea for Backlash came while walking along the canal in Kings Langley one lunchtime," he recalls. "I saw a woman smoking in the stern of a canal boat while sitting on a bottle of flammable gas and I started to wonder, 'What if…?' That gave me the opening line, and the story developed from there."

The story follows young interior designer Trish McGowan, who's coerced into distributing blackmail demands. One victim retaliates; now she's running for her life. Staying alive means finding the one person who can help – her blackmailer – but how do you find an experienced criminal who doesn't want to be found?

Ian had always wanted to write since a child and remembers copying an Enid Blyton Secret Seven story into an exercise book, pretending it was his first novel!

Backlash will be available on Dec 17 from Amazon in paperback and Kindle, published by Wallace Publishing. Ian is proud to donate a proportion of his royalties to the British Science Association charity.
