Founder of LEOTO (Living Everyday On Their Own), an organization that assists visibly challenged and blind individuals reach their highest potential primarily through Braille.
Smith suffers from retinitis pigmentosa, a genetic disorder which diminishes one's eyesight and could eventually render one completely blind. Smith explained that his symptoms began during his high school years. Fortunately, his parents were very supportive and sought help to build Smith's confidence – despite his near-blind condition. "My parents were instrumental in giving me 'the push' I needed to propel forward. They didn't allow for pity but provided compassion," "The world only provides some of what you need; you have to work for the rest." And he does it very well. Opening LEOTO in 2020, he has since taught students in 22 states in the US, and in four countries around the world. In addition to serving as CEO to LEOTO, he is also an accomplished musician and performs live with his own band (Epitome ShowBand), which is popular in his hometown in the Metro Atlanta area in GA.
