Dr. Artika Tyner Recognized for Her Community Contributions by The Coven

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Nov. 1, 2023 - PRLog -- Alex West Steinman, co-founder of The Coven, announced that Dr. Artika Tyner, founder of Planting People Growing Justiceā„¢ Leadership Institute (PPGJLI), has been named an Honorable Community Leader in the organization's inaugural Radical Leadership Awards. 2023. The award was presented during ceremonies on Oct. 25, 2023, that featured local entertainers, artists and leaders. Tyner was chosen from among a field of more than 50 nominees.

The Coven's inaugural Radical Leadership Awards aims to recognize those who are making an exceptional impact in our communities and Dr. Tyner's dedication to positive change has truly shone through. Her work as a motivational speaker, author, educator, and civil rights attorney has touched countless lives. Through her unwavering commitment to education, social justice and leadership, Dr. Tyner embodies the values that drive our community forward. The Coven designs workspaces where unique entrepreneurs and modern teams flourish through on-demand professional workspaces. The Radical Leadership Awards celebrates the exceptional achievements and accomplishments of leaders who are making significant contributions within the community.

Tyner has left an indelible mark within her city, on the future of youths, and to the international stage. The founder of the non-profit PPGJLI is dedicated to increasing youth literacy rates, inspiring the leaders of tomorrow, breaking the school to prison pipeline, and preserving cultural history. The organization conducts book giveaways, school visits, and supports a diverse range of books and authors.

Through PPGJLI (https://www.ppgjli.org/), Tyner has launched a variety of initiatives that include: multiple writing contests for youths and adults, the Black Doll Project, STEAM education, and Leaders are Readers program.

She launched the Aya Anthology, the 100 Black Authors Campaign, and Read Aloud online program. PPGJLI also conducts Be a Leader and Leadership Development programs for youths. PPGJLI has donated 22,800 diverse books, inspired 5,658 students, has more than 30,000 Read Aloud listeners, and published 66 authors.
