Follow on Google News | Winners of Minnesota Twins and PPGJLI Writing Competition AnnouncedBy: Planting People Growing Justice PPGJLI has again partnered with the Minnesota Twins for its 3rd Annual MLK Day Writing Competition. The contest is now open and entries can be submitted online. The deadline for entries is March 1, 2025. The statewide competition is open to youths in grades K-8 who are living in Minnesota. The theme for the contest is "How You Can Be a Drum Major for Justice." The theme is drawn from MLK's famous sermon, "The Drum Major Instinct." PPGJLI welcomes entries of 1,000 words or less from any of these categories, fiction or creative fiction, prose or poetry. There will be first, second, and third place winners. "Our goal is to inspire our young scholars to write for justice. They will share strategies for serving in their communities," PPGJLI is a champion of literacy, leadership and human rights, along with diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Rated a 5-star non-profit organization, PPGJLI is planting the seeds of social change through a variety of initiatives and programs that provide education, community outreach, and the arts. Youths are encouraged to discover their leadership potential and be the change-makers of the future. The partnership between the Minnesota Twins and PPGJLI (http://www.ppgjli.org) for the 3rd Annual Writing Competition is a unique opportunity for youths to be inspired to serve. The contest honors Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his legacy as a civil rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize recipient. It's an opportunity for youths to learn how one voice can change the world.
