Providing Solutions for Smart Cities:Millitronic IIOVT Parking Lot Access Control System

July 1, 2023 - PRLog -- Parking lots are an essential facility in almost all large buildings, but setting up a parking lot involves more than just allocating parking spaces. The configuration of entrances and exits requires a great deal of thought, particularly when it comes to card readers, intercom systems, and payment sensors, which often involve numerous RS232 devices.

This poses difficulties in wiring on safety islands, as all devices need to be manually wired to the nearest parking payment terminal or control center. The challenges don't end once the wiring is done, as any damage to the cables requires replacing the entire wiring system, which is time-consuming and costly.

To address the cumbersome issues faced by users, the Millitronic research and development team has come up with a new solution. They utilize IIOVT (Industrial I/O Virtualization Software Technology), which enables the IPC (Industrial PC) inside the parking management terminal to extend Ethernet cables up to 100 meters through ETS (Ethernet over Twisted Pair) technology. This allows for easy daisy-chaining of all RS232 devices on the safety island.
