Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir got into a heated argument after the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) match in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

DHARAMSALA, India - May 2, 2023 - PRLog -- Both clashed on the ground. Seeing the debate escalating, LSG captain KL Rahul and senior player Amit Mishra intervened and handled the matter.

The tussle between the two senior players started after the match on Monday night at the Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Then both the teams were shaking hands. Many videos of this clash have also started going viral on social media.

Following the controversy, LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir and former RCB captain Virat Kohli were fined 100% of their match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. LSG bowler Naveen-ul-Haq was also fined 50% of his match fee. Kohli and Naveen have accepted their mistake.

Why Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir clashed on the field

During the match, in the second innings, former RCB captain Virat Kohli had an argument with Lucknow's Afghan bowler Naveen-ul-Haq. Naveen was batting at that time, after the debate, Naveen also hit a six, but could not win his team. After the match, both the players were seen bickering even while shaking hands.

After shaking hands with all the players, LSG opener Kyle Mayers was seen having a conversation with Kohli. Then LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir took Meyers away from Kohli. When Gambhir was separating him from Kohli, an argument started between Gambhir and Kohli. Both were arguing even while going away from each other. After some time both the players came near and started saying something to each other.

There was a heated argument between the two for about 5 minutes. Seeing the matter escalating, senior players Amit Mishra and KL Rahul standing nearby tried to pacify the matter. Even after this, Kohli and Gambhir looked angry with each other.

Fans are also considering this debate as a reply to Gambhir's aggression in the previous match. Then Lucknow chased the target of 213 runs against Bengaluru at their own home. After the match, Gambhir signaled to the spectators to keep quiet. In such a situation, during the match today, Kohli indicated to the fans not to remain silent. He was also seen making noises and pointing to support the teams.
