Follow on Google News | Explore the natural beauty and diverse culture of TrinidadFly direct with KLM from Amsterdam to Port of Spain, Trinidad
By: Tourism Trinidad Ltd After an absence of many years, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines reinstated a direct connection from Amsterdam to Port of Spain, the capital of the twin-island state of Trinidad and Tobago, three times per week during winter and summer season, operated by an Airbus 330-200. Trinidad's fascinating history has lent itself to a plethora of festivals and events that pay homage to its African, Chinese, East Indian, French, Spanish and Syrian heritage, just to name a few. Offering year-round warm weather, with average temperatures of 26 ͦ C, and so many activities the destination has to offer, "Visit Trinidad, Always in Season" not just a slogan but a welcome value proposition for Dutch (and other European) travelers. Trinidad and Tobago was just announced by National Geographic as one of the top 35 'Best of the World' destinations for 2023, including the second largest sea turtle nesting in the World. No wonder that the islands offer some of the best for ecotourism experiences, including the Caroni Bird Sanctuary and the Asa Wright Nature Centre, which will be reopened in April 2023. Ms. Carla Cupid, Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Trinidad Limited who addressed members of the Dutch travel media said, "We are excited to be at Vakantiebeurs for the very first time and to see that our beautiful island of Trinidad with its rich biodiversity and diverse culture appeals to the Dutch market". Ms. Cupid continued, "We are continuing to upgrade and expand our tourism product by adding several branded hotel properties to our room stock this year and next year." Next month on February 20th and 21st, Trinidad will culminate the Carnival season with 'The Greatest Show on Earth" which is its annual Carnival celebration that spawned numerous similar Carnivals all over the world. Also attending the Vakantiebeurs Expo is Senator, the Honourable Randall Mitchell, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts of Trinidad and Tobago, who hailed the participation at the Vakantiebeurs as one that fits within the country's overall strategy to develop the Dutch and European travel markets, and to increase visitor arrivals from the Benelux region in particular by means of the direct flight connection with KLM.
