MUMBAI, India - Nov. 28, 2022 - PRLog -- According to surveys, transplanted hearts were just as safe as those from recipients who did not have the COVID-19 virus. Based on the first 84 recipients of hearts from Covid positive donors, researchers were taken aback when none of the recipients passed away due to respiratory conditions or infections. Although there were concerns that the lethal virus might have harmed the hearts, there was no observed increase in death or problems. In such cases of lethal health problems where organ transplants are a must, people can approach Transplants-Foundation, an organization best known for organ transplants in Mumbai.

The development happened at a time when there were hundreds of people waiting for heart transplants, where demand had risen in the last 30 years. Still, there were no confirmed cases of transmission through organ donation, according to the NHS. However, it was declared that a person with Covid will be unable to donate their organs. Eventually, organ donations fell by almost a third during the epidemic as more people who could have donated died at home.

Furthermore, there was no discernible difference in the issues such as graft failure experienced by recipients of Covid hearts. In addition, patients receiving Covid hearts had an average hospital stay of 15 days, two days shorter than the 17-day stay for patients with a standard transplant. The survival rates for both were close to 96%. Most of the individuals who passed away with the Covid hearts had no connection to the virus.
