MANHATTAN, N.Y. - Aug. 19, 2022 - PRLog -- DKBmed, LLC announced it received several awards from the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions (ACEHP) and National Association of Medical Education Companies (NAMEC) for its innovative medical education programs. Optimizing Disease Management: Finding the Invisible Patient won the 2021 NAMEC Best Practice in Learner Outcomes award, STOP HIV in LGBTQ Seniors won the 2021 NAMEC Best Practice in Live Virtual Activity Educational Design award, and Kentucky Screen, Treat, Overcome, Prevent (S.T.O.P.) HIV in partnership with University of Kentucky won the 2022 Award for Outstanding CE Outcomes Assessment. Additionally, DKBmed's poster submission, Derail Depression: Assessing the Effectiveness of a Continuing Education Quality Improvement Program, was accepted at the 2022 Psych Congress which will take place on September 17-20, 2022 in New Orleans, LA.

The NAMEC Best Practice in Learner Outcomes is awarded to a medical education program that clearly demonstrates achievement and produces outstanding outcomes Optimizing Disease Management: Finding the Invisible Patient is a quality improvement initiative that addresses the SAVA (substance abuse, violence, and HIV/AIDS) syndemic with a systems-level approach. This program featured live education and an enduring webcast that informed Johns Hopkins HIV clinicians of effective screening protocols for identifying women affected by SAVA.

Screening identified a staggering 91% of patients testing positive for one or more component of SAVA with nearly 34% experiencing interpersonal violence. The realization that this syndemic was so prevalent among Johns Hopkins patients at the Women's HIV clinic, made it clear to those involved that expanding this education to other community HIV centers would be extremely beneficial. ECHO HIV: Finding the Invisible Patient was created to address this need. More information on ECHO HIV is available at echohiv.dkbmed.com

The NAMEC Best Practice in Live Virtual Activity Educational Design is awarded to a medical education program that was planned to be a live, on-site activity and was converted to a virtual design as a result of the pandemic. STOP HIV in LGBTQ Seniors was developed in partnership with the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Greater Fort Lauderdale, and the HIV + Aging Research Project Palm Springs (HARP-PS) to educate clinicians who encounter older people at risk for or living with HIV. This program was originally planned as in-person meetings with these communities, but as the COVID-19 pandemic worsened in early 2020, it became clear that the program needed to be presented virtually in order to reach the intended audience.
