• Placements reach second-best ever figure
• New travel vacancies remain well above pre-pandemic levels
• Candidate numbers fall due to Easter distractions

Big month for travel job placements

Job placements in the travel industry remained at historic highs in April, according to the latest figures from C&M Travel Recruitment and C&M Executive Recruitment.

Despite falling 14 per cent from March's record high, April recorded the second highest number of travel job placements since the index began in January 2012.

Last month's total was up by 48 per cent from April 2019, up by 30 per cent from April 2018, up by 17 per cent from April 2017 and up by 42 per cent from April 2016.

New travel vacancy volumes remain strong

Following an all-time high in March, there was a dip in newly created travel jobs in April. However, last month's figure was still above pre-pandemic equivalents and was up by 33 per cent from April 2019. It was also up by five per cent from April 2018, up by eight per cent from 2017 and up by 30 per cent from April 2016.

Similarly, after March's 8-month high, candidate volumes also slipped back in April to record their lowest monthly figure of the year so far. However, volumes were still up by 27 per cent from April 2021 and down by just one per cent from April 2019.

Speaking about the stats, Barbara Kolosinska, Managing Director at C&M Travel Recruitment (http://www.candm.co.uk/) and C&M Executive Recruitment, said: "2022 continues to be a record breaker for the travel recruitment sector with more new jobs being filled in the past two months than we have ever seen before. The market is extraordinarily busy at the moment, with May also looking like it will be one for the record books.

"But in order for this momentum to continue, we need more new job seekers to enter the market. Encouraging candidates to join or return to the travel industry is in all of our interests, so we need to work together to promote the message that travel is back and it is once again a fantastic industry to work in."
