HOUSTON - April 21, 2022 - PRLog -- Coastal Ice & Water introduces a new and innovative Sustainable Hydration Solution to help eliminate plastic waste at local manufacturing sites. Coastal's no-touch Refresh'R® kiosk caught the attention of petrochemical sites and is being tested in advance of Earth Day and Houston's summer heat.

Coastal Ice & Water is an award-winning provider of traditional hydration solutions, providing truck loads and totes of ice and water in plastic bottles to keep workers safely hydrated. With many Houston Ship Channel companies adopting a circular economy philosophy and joining with the Alliance to End Plastic Waste to recycle and reuse plastic waste, Coastal vowed to join petrochemical industry efforts for a more sustainable solution.

Coastal researched and secured agreements to provide no-touch Refresh'R® kiosks that could dispense chilled, filtered water and help reduce plastic bottle use on petrochemical site.

"Industry's positive response to our Sustainable Hydration Solution is refreshing." said Scott McAlister, Coastal's president. "We offer traditional hydration or can usher along a company's Circular Economy goals with Refresh'R® kiosks that help eliminate plastic bottles."

Karen McAlister, Coastal's CEO and Scott's wife, challenged her husband to find new solutions. This research focused on the no-touch Refresh'R® kiosk which holds 55 gallons of water and can be placed safely throughout plant facilities. A 6,000-gallon water rig trailer onsite supplies the kiosks.

Scott's research did not stop with the Refresh'R® kiosk. He is now exploring participating with local companies to recycle any remaining plastic bottles still used at sites which could be converted to liquid feedstock by advanced manufacturing facilities and become part of a "green feedstock stream" for local petrochemical facilities.

"Our family business culture is to care and serve our community," said Karen McAlister. "Part of caring and serving could be to take any money made from recycling and use that as industry scholarships to develop a sustainable workforce. Both initiatives advance our desire to be more than a vendor. We want to be an industry partner on sustainable solutions."
