This track is the artist's first official release and introduction to the world ahead of the debut EP Real Deal: Introduction. "Fundamentals" picks up immediately with a fast tempo and punchy bars. The song swells with energy and reinforces the attitude that anything is possible with consistency and hard work—Eli Eternal has mastered the fundamentals and is ready to build.

Starting this project in 2020, Eli Eternal has carefully constructed every detail piece by piece in order to create a work that will resonate with a modern generation. Buckroll Beats produced the single, which was then recorded at Full Moon Studio in Watkinsville, GA. With this single, Eli Eternal wants listeners to take away a feeling of confidence and a stronger belief in self. "All you need is self belief and God. Gravitating toward music as a source of peace, Eli Eternal grew up in Athens, GA immersed in hip hop. From birth, he's overcome tremendous odds and carries a survivor mentality of not giving up and not letting life knock him down. Listening to 2Pac since he was in the womb, both 2Pac and Nipsey Hussle have had a big impact on Eli Eternal's style and motivations that can be easily heard through his music. 2Pac provided the inspiration that no matter what you go through in life, you can still be somebody. He relates to Nipsey as a figure that was overlooked and unnoticed despite hard work but still pushed to create something bigger. Carrying a powerful message infused with a classic hip hop sound is in Eli Eternal's nature. The now 23-year-old first began recording in 2014 and has been practicing and perfecting his craft ever since.
