Firefighters & EMS Fund to Close Satellite Office in California, Refocus Efforts Ahead of 2022 Elections
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - March 16, 2022 - PRLog -- Last summer, in conjunction with the 2021 wildfire season, grassroots political organization Firefighters & EMS Fund launched a local field office in Thousand Oaks, California. The "First Responder Political Action" field office opened its doors in mid-June as the state and local governments prepare for another potentially disastrous wildfire season. Nine months later, the organization has announced that they are closing the field office in preparation of other projects across the nation ahead of the 2022 election season.
"Firefighters and EMS Fund opened a satellite office to serve as a base for ballot measure initiatives we sought to pass in California while also exploring ways to help fight for better Wildland Firefighter benefits and pay," Executive Director Nile Porter said in a statement. "We did all we could here to support wildland firefighters and local ballot measures, and now it is time to move on to the next project."
When asked about next steps, Porter replied, "We are currently exploring different avenues that will allow us to partner with other organizations who have been fighting for Wildland Firefighter benefits from the beginning. We have been humbled by the opportunity to learn more of the ways we can serve this population of first responders."
