Comcast, Palm Beach County Community Members Honored for Serving Caregiving Youth

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Jan. 21, 2022 - PRLog -- The AACY will hold its 1st annual Community Caregiver Awards Breakfast in Boca Raton on Fri., Feb. 4. The awards will recognize those who care for our community: Comcast, Michelle and Bobby Stallone, Stallone's Italian Kitchen in Boca Raton, and Dr. Julie Belkowitz, Pediatrician from University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

The recipients have been selected by AACY for having made a positive impact for Caregiving Youth in the Palm Beach County area.

"Caregiving Youth struggle daily. Their role as caregivers adds so many responsibilities and stresses beyond just growing up which can affect their academic and social lives. They often fall behind and feel isolated," AACY President and Founder Dr. Connie Siskowski said.

"The contributions made by these members of our community are invaluable to the Caregiving Youth we serve," said Rosie Inguanzo-Martin, Founder and CEO of Allegiance Home Health and AACY Board Chair.

Dominique Renaud, AACY Board Member and Chair of the Awards Breakfast added, "Organizations like ours rely on generous members of our community for many things. We couldn't support Caregiving Youth as effectively without their help."

The Community Caregiver Awards recipients were chosen for the following reasons:

Comcast stepped up when students moved to virtual learning, and donated internet service to families in need. This allowed our students to get connected so they could continue their schooling and transition to virtual learning smoothly.

Dr. Julie Belkowitz has been instrumental in conducting vital research that will one day inform legislation for Caregiving Youth. Additionally, she has been a tireless advocate for Caregiving Youth, serving on the AACY National Advisory Council.

Michelle and Bobby Stallone of Stallone's Italian Kitchen in Boca Raton sprang into action when the pandemic began – they combined their monetary resources and manpower with donations from the community to serve meals to food-insecure families in Palm Beach County. They worked with AACY to ensure our families got access to food in a difficult time.
