Gloria Estefan Foundation Donates $25,000 to Caregiving Youth Through AACY

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Nov. 12, 2021 - PRLog -- The American Association of Caregiving Youth (AACY) and The Gloria Estefan Foundation (GEF) have shared values and complementary missions, as GEF promotes education, health, and cultural development.

"As a teen, I cared for my dad, so I know first-hand the struggles that Caregiving Youth face," Gloria Estefan said. "So, when I learned about AACY, I could not pass up the opportunity to lend my voice and contribute to their cause."

"This donation is especially meaningful, given that Gloria herself was a Caregiving Youth for her father," said Connie Siskowski, RN, PhD, AACY President and Founder. "My hope is that her strong voice will help uplift this hidden population and help us continue our advocacy on their behalf."

Founded in 1998 by Dr. Siskowski, what is now AACY currently serves more than 450 caregiving youth (with more enrolled each day), in 33 middle and high schools throughout Palm Beach County. The organization is proud of its team operating the Caregiving Youth Project (CYP), which, since being established in 2006, has served more than 2,000 Caregiving Youth and their families. The CYP provides professional services in school, out of school and at home as well as supports students and their families with a myriad of needs-driven wraparound services with the help of collaborating partners. The CYP has since seen a seven-year average high school graduation rate of 98%!
