Yours Humanly Names Walnut Creek Teen Recipient of Children Have the Power to Empower® Award

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Nov. 29, 2021 - PRLog -- Yours Humanly, a global nonprofit that transforms the lives of children in need around the world by providing access to quality education and equitable resources, has named a Northern California teen a 2021 recipient of its Children Have the Power to Empower® Award, which recognizes children for their outstanding acts of goodness that make a significant difference in the lives of others.

Seena Farhadi, 17, of Walnut Creek, California, received the Children Have the Power to Empower® Award for the outstanding acts of goodness he performs on behalf of children in need through LEAP, the Learning Enrichment and Assistance Program he founded in January 2021. The high school senior works with organizations such as Homeless Outreach Program for Education and Foster Youth Services to pair tutors with homeless and foster youth in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District (Contra Costa County) who are struggling academically and in need of support and mentoring. In so doing, he is giving these students access to resources and opportunities they would not otherwise have. He has plans to expand the program to include a summer camp for homeless youth and a speaker series tackling topics relevant to both homelessness and the foster care system, kickstarting an important community dialogue about educational equity and the needs of homeless and foster youth.
