Visitors can tour the inside of "Wild Kat" and speak with the crew to learn more about their mission and how to become a paratrooper! WWII VETERAN VISITS THE TULSA AIR AND SPACE MUSEUM ON WEDNESDAY, NOV 10, 2021 Bill Parker was the First American Soldier to step onto Omaha Beach on D-Day. On Wednesday, Nov. 10, Bill will be at the museum for all museum visitors to meet. Bill will be signing copies of his memoirs that include pictures from his scrapbook that he carried from basic training, while he landed on Omaha Beach, walked 600 miles while fighting Germans, and then back home after two years in Europe during WWII. Bill's memoirs also contain rare maps shared only with his 116th Infantry, 29th Division, and pictures never seen by the public before. All proceeds from the signed copies will provide funds to offset Bill's expenses to travel to Belgium in December, 2021 to receive Medals of Honor. Bill landed on Omaha Beach as the leader of the wire cutting team, and only 5 of more than 35 troops survived a shell that hit their landing transport after the first five stepped onto the beach. Visitors can meet Bill and take pictures with him. The suggested donation for a signed copy of his memoirs is $20, and all donations will go to Bill's travel expenses so that he can share his story and remind the sacrifices given by "The Greatest Generation". Signed copies can be purchased and shipped by contacting ExecutiveDirector@ Media Contact Tonya Blansett, Executive Director Tulsa Air and Space Museum info@tulsamuseum.org 9188349900 End
