ST. PAUL, Minn. - Sept. 30, 2021 - PRLog -- Dr. Artika Tyner, founder of Planting People Growing Justiceā„¢ Leadership Institute (PPGJLI) announced that the non-profit organization has attained a major milestone. It's donated 7,000 children's books worldwide.

PPGJLI, its programs, and book donations have had a significant impact on children around the globe. The organization's efforts are focused on building avenues of success for students in grades K to 12. It does that by promoting academic excellence, educational offerings, youth leadership summits, and donating a wealth of books.

The organization developed and produced a number of children's books on leadership and social justice. The most famous is "Justice Makes a Difference: The Story of Miss Freedom Fighter, Esquire," that's won a variety of prestigious awards. Over 1,000 copies of the book have been donated through PPGJLI's "Leaders are Readers" campaign.

Those efforts have inspired more than 5,000 children around the world through school visits and partnerships with local retailers. PPGJLI also established a social enterprise model to sell books that raises funds to donate books to children in need. The organization's bookstore (https://planting-people-growing-justice-leadership-instit...) features books that promote literacy, cultural awareness, and leadership development. It was named to the Social Enterprise Impact Showcase in 2020.

Education and literacy are essential for social change and the PPGJLI is working to equip the next generation of leaders through a variety of programs that support that goal. Representation is essential for children to dream and achieve. PPGJLI has been working diligently to provide youth with books that reflect who they see when they look in the mirror.

Donating 7,000 books is no easy task and attaining that number is a testament to the hard work and efforts of PPGJLI. The organization has donated books in Cuba, Haiti, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, and the U.S. Through those donations, children are gaining literacy, becoming leaders for social justice (https://www.ppgjli.org/bealeader), and learning about the many possibilities that are available to them.
