PRLog -- For those who are familiar with using VPNs and who also enjoy streaming video content through popular streaming services (such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, and many others), you've likely run into situations where you're unable to stream video content through your VPN. The popular streaming services typically block traffic from VPNs, because the streaming service provide their content with geographic filters built in to show some content to people in one country and a different set of videos to a different country. Some of this geographical filtering is done because of laws that prohibit some types of content. More commonly, content in specific countries is purposely filtered by the streaming providers according to the company's marketing plan.
Either way, having your content blocked because you choose to use a VPN for security is frustrating. As the use of VPNs has proliferated in the 21st Century, more technology has been dedicated to ensuring that the increased user base has access to their streaming services.
The results of a recent VPN test was published on TechRadar.com. The test found that unblocking services from VPNs have improved dramatically in 2021 over previous years. TechRadar ran 92 VPN streaming tests and found only four times when a VPN provider was able to access a streaming service with only one IP address, while a test using an alternative IP address failed.
For VPN users who like to stream content, this is good news. There is more improvement to be done in the VPN industry, but at least it feels like a tipping point has been reached.
