SAN ANTONIO - Feb. 24, 2021 - PRLog -- munity First Health Plans announces the EMPOWERING PATHWAYS: Maternal Scholarship Program. An applicant-based scholarship program for Community First members who are mothers-to-be.

The EMPOWERING PATHWAYS: Maternal Scholarship Program was created to provide expectant mothers access to funding for career training and the opportunity for a full-time position in the healthcare industry after their baby arrives. Career certificate programs include; Acute Care Technician, Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, and Patient Care Technician.

"Community First's goal is to make San Antonio and Bexar County have more successful health outcomes by putting community first.  We understand that resources that enhance quality of life can have a significant influence on population health outcomes. By connecting mothers with these resources, we are helping to ensure better health for generations to come." says Loretta A. La Point, Director of Health Promotion and Wellness at Community First.

To ensure that the pathway to a new career is successful, the EMPOWERING PATHWAYS: Maternal Scholarship Program also provides recipients with much needed resources including; guidance and career counseling, child care, utility assistance, transportation and desktop computer/laptop (while supplies last) to qualified applicants.

Community First is proud to partner with Communi Care, Quest and Goodwill San Antonio to launch this pilot program for its members. 10 applicants will be initially awarded and the deadline to apply is Friday, February 19, 2021.
