Community First Health Plans Launches New Year Resolution to Feed Local CommunitiesBy: Community First Health Plans Bexar County residents and the surrounding areas are invited to help in the fight against food insecurity by stopping by one of Community First's Food Pantry locations at their convenience to donate needed non-perishable items. Donations can be canned goods, dry goods, feminine products, diapers, personal hygiene items, small toys, and warm clothing such as socks and mittens. "After installing over 40 food pantries by the end of 2022, I am excited to begin 2023 with our goals of encouraging our local community to donate non-perishable goods to pantries in their area and partnering with more organizations in Bexar and the surrounding counties to make sure all communities are reached," says Theresa Scepanski, President and CEO, Community First Health Plans According to the San Antonio Food Bank, one in four children and one in five adults are affected by food insecurity in the local community. Each donation provides families with the resources they need daily. Community First Food Pantries are conveniently located, free-standing, and weatherproof structures. Working with key community partners, the public can access most food pantries 24/7 at no cost, with no registration or sign-up needed. Schools, public libraries, civic organizations, businesses, and churches have partnered with Community First Health Plans to host the food pantries.
